Grays Harbor Equipment Co  was first founded in April, 1920 on historic “F’ Street in Aberdeen WA by Swedish immigrant Robert Isaacson, who left his brother’s business to venture out on his own.

In the early years they sold & installed logging equipment, wire rope, water pumps, engines and air compressors for the dozens of lumber and shake mills that once flourished in our area.  During the great depression and the war years with steel in short supply, the company struggled to remain in business by repairing and leasing machinery, pumps & equipment.

By the late 1950’s our area was growing once again & many new product lines were added.  The river front area was still mostly industrial and the main store moved up the block into a newly remodeled building, which had been Puget Sound Motor Frt.  Up until 2007  they were still in that 1909 building on the corner of “F” & State or Hume St.  Giant logging equipment, saws, rigging & blocks have made way for more modern items such as pool & spa supplies, but the flavor of the early days is still apparent from the “old time” Wisconsin Engine, Ohio Knife or Goodyear signs.

Bob’s son Earl Isaacson, grew up in Aberdeen and except during WWII worked in the family business all his life.  Managing the company, designing and installing water systems for industrial users as well as rural homeowners.  By the 1970’s Grays Harbor Equipment had become the largest Jacuzzi Pump dealer in Western Washington.  Most well known for “The Pump Man” logo, bonded & licensed technicians continue to offer competitive, professional installations and service.  William (Skip) Perry, third generation and present owner became President in 1989 and took over management after Earl’s death in 1991.

Today they represent many manufacturers and supply local contractors, industry & homeowners with a wide range of products.

In 2007 the store suffered a devastating fire forcing them to move to 410 F Street, down the block.  The new store is an amazing testament to rising from the ashes.
